This is a slightly edited version of a speech that was delivered at Australia’s first Political Action Committee hosted by the British Australian Community in 2024. In it, Dr. Salter outlines the case for the formation of an advocacy body for Australians of Anglo-Celtic descent and heritage. The denigration of Australian identity forms the historical basis on which the argument for such an advocacy organisation is formed. The principles of multiculturalism are used as a rational for the justification of this proposal, on both communitarian and legal grounds. This speech constitutes the first comprehensive approach to the question of Australia’s traditional identity, its defence and promotion within the sphere of civil society and political activism.
Frank Salter is an Australian political scientist who has published widely on themes of organisational and ethnic behaviour. His books include Emotions in Command, On Genetic Interests, Risky Transactions, and more recently, Anglophobia: The Unrecognised Hatred (with Harry Richardson). His articles have discussed Australian national affairs, including the politicisation of the social sciences, indigenous constitutional recognition, multiculturalism, eugenics, and social bonds.
